Magnetic Levitation and Propulsion Technologies

Research and Development Team

Bill Butler
Team Leader
Design Engineer

Bill Butler has a Bachelors in Computer Science and is educated in physics, electrical and mechanical engineering, robotics, and aerospace design. His experience includes patent draftsman for Washington Institute of Technology, CAD engineer for IBM, Robotics tech for Motorola, and Network engineer for Cisco Systems. He participated in search and rescue operations for Civil Air Patrol, and started HoverTech in 1991 with the goal of turning science fiction dreams like flying cars and hoverboards into reality. Since then, he's published over a dozen theories on field-effect propulsion and forcefield air-cushion technology. Bill's passion for innovative flying machines combined with his ability to inspire and motivate others has made him a natural leader in his field.

Dominic Florin
Senior Engineer

Dominic Florin has a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering and a Masters in Controls and Dynamics from Utah State University and is now working as a Software engineer at Ball Aerospace & Technologies Corp. His previous experience was at the Space Dynamics Laboratory where he researched and built a prototype for a satellite 3-axis control system. He was a flight software engineer for the Wide Field Camera 3 (WFC 3) portion of the Hubble Space Telescope, and is now working on “Orbital Express”, a demonstration of on-orbit robotic servicing. In his spare time, Dominic brings to Space Magnetics a unique way of thinking about physics and engineering that's not just outside the box... the box doesn't even exist!

Andrew Palfreyman
Senior Engineer

Andrew Palfreyman is a physics-educated hardware/software engineer with a masters in Applied Physics from Oxford University. His wide range of experience includes radar, avionics, robotics, and graphics/video compression in the UK and Munich, Germany. He moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1986 to become senior engineer for National Semiconductor Corp. He holds four patents; one in the mass storage, and three in multimedia technology. Andrew lives in San Jose, Calif with his wife Liz and two children, Thomas and Zoë. He became involved with Space Magnetics in 2003 after discovering he wasn't the only one insane enough to want to build a flying saucer in his garage. Andrew has become a valuable member of the Space Magnetics team generously volunteering his time, energy, and expert knowledge of mathematics and physics.

Jason Held
Field Engineer

Jason Held is an Army Captain in Space Command, and has deployed all over the world to support military space missions. He was a lead instructor at the Interservice Space Fundamentals Course teaching satellite design theory, propulsion theory, and orbital dynamics. Educated as a computer engineer, Jason worked hardware-software integration on the Wide Field Camera 3 portion of the Hubble Space Telescope, as well as biomedical engineering projects. He is starting a PhD program in Aerosapace Engineering and Mechatronics at the University of Sydney in Australia, with interests in orbital mechanics and cooperative robotics. And if that's not enough, Jason will be crew commander for FMARS, an Artic Research Station for simulating a manned mission to Mars. Part of Jason's mission will be to conduct field tests of our geomagnetic concept. See results here.

Adam Thodey
Business Advisor

Adam Thodey has a Masters Degree in both Space Systems and Applied Remote Sensing/GIS Engineering, and is currently a Ground System and Test engineer at Ball Aerospace & Technologies Corp. His wide array of project experiences also includes the Hubble Space Telescope and Deep Impact- a project to study the interior of a comet. He is currently providing ground system development and support for a Jet Propulsion Laboratory Test Telemetry and Command system (TTACS). An entrepreneur from an early age, Adam has built a successful catering business, a solid engineering career, and an impressive investment portfolio. He enthusiastically supports Space Magnetics and provides not only a sense of direction, but a practical perspective on our often wildly impractical ideas. We couldn't think of anyone more qualified to be our business advisor.

Space Magnetics Support Network

Tim Ventura
Friend and Supporter since 1991

Tim Ventura lives in Seattle, Washington and has become widely known as the official spokesman for Antigravity. He has built more Lifters than anyone on the planet and maintains a vast database of anti-gravity research and audio interviews with top people in the field. www.AmericanAntigravity.com

Jorgen Collinson
Friend and Supporter since 1991

Jorgen Collinson lives in Brisbane, Australia and has been attacking the problem of anti-gravity from a different angle- high voltage. He has worked with The Searl Group of Australia to recreate a SEG, or Searl Effect Generator. See some of his recent progress here. (coming soon)
